Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm, Sweden

Another gorgeous day in the mid 70s.   Sweden is also celebrating the summer solstice so the city was relatively empty.  We drove around the city and the guide pointed out a lot of things, but I didn’t get many good pictures.

The best part was Skansen The oldest open air museum in the world.  It was awesome and I could have spent a whole day there.  They had buildings from all over Sweden mostly from the 1700s.  There were animals all over.  Some in pens near the houses like the people would have had back then.  They also had an animal preserve type thing with Nordic animals, a petting zoo, etc.  There were food stalls and craft demonstrations of glass blowing, ironworks, etc.

Stockholm is one city I would really like to visit again - We passed a viking museum etc.  I will need to make sure not to go during summer solstice time so that things are open.

for hours after the ship took off we passed islands with summer homes.
